Submissions

Thank you for your interest in Portraito Magazine.

We are looking to create a community of portrait photographers that share their work and knowledge with each other. We have designed the magazine such that it is both a photo book and a community forum.

For these reasons we encourage all submitters to send us more than just their portraits. When submitting, we are open to receiving:

• Portrait photos (required)
• A quote or short bio
• Technical details and behind the scenes

Photo Guidelines

Although our only rule is that it is a portrait, to better your chances of approval, please use our Instagram pinned inspiration highlights to get an idea of what we are looking for. For colored portraits, see here. For black & white, see here.

We seek to promote and showcase the photographer's skills and style. The photos you submit do not have to be a series. In fact, the more diverse the photos are, the better the chances that we will find something that fits our publication's vision.

• When submitting please follow the guidelines outlined on this page. Upon reviewing submissions, Portraito Magazine reserves the rights to accept or deny any submission. You will receive a rejection or approval decision, reviewed in the order the submission was received. All submissions will be reviewed.
• All images must be retouched and edited.
• Please Note: Full team credits MUST be included. Failure to include full names of a team member will result in cancelation of the submission and any fees paid will not be reimbursed. You may optionally include Instagram tags in the submission section so we can tag you on social media! We won’t be held accountable for any missing or misspelled credit. Be sure to double-check that all persons involved in the submission are included in the credits, and their names are spelled correctly.
• If you are not the photographer, please confirm and present to us the permission/release form from the photographer that owns the copyright to the images.
• When you share your published portraits, feel free to use the following hashtags: @portraitomag #portraitomag

Image Requirements

• 6-20 images
• JPG format
• sRGB color profile
• Allowed sizes (flexible rules):
  • Portrait: 8.5 × 11 in, 300 dpi (2550 × 3300 px)
  • Landscape: 17 × 11 in, 300 dpi (5100 × 3300 px)

IMPORTANT

When submitting your work, you must:

• Guarantee and represent that you are the sole and exclusive legal owner of all the rights, titles and interests in all works submitted by you, including all related intellectual property interests (such as trademarks and copyrights).
• Get permission from models or their agents to publish works with their participation.
• Models must have the photographer's consent for publication, legal representation, or agent approval.

To protect and indemnify the publisher (Portraito Magazine) all liabilities, damages, costs, debts, claims, and expenses that publisher may sustain or incur at the suit of a third party, if posted material violates or misappropriates any third property or intellectual property in breach of the above paragraph. By taking submission you approve these norms, accept the rules and take all the possible risks on yourself. This clause is our replacement for release by placement rights.

By allowing Portraito Magazine to publish your work, you grant permission to use your work in any of our publications and websites, videos, marketing materials, advertising, and any other media or formats used to create and monetize Portraito Magazine content.

We reserve the right to crop your photos and change their size.
